Why we don't yell at horses.
Have you ever seen someone yell and scream at a horse?
It's a lot like asking someone a question in a foreign language and then screaming the same request at them when they don't understand it. That person may have been happy to comply with your request had you asked in a language they were familiar with.
We have a primarily verbal language.
Horses primarily speak in a silent language, complex and vast if we are keen enough to listen.
For that reason, it's difficult for us to understand that communication with horses is silent, just as it is difficult for us as apex predators to understand the instincts of a prey animal.
I'm amazed and thankful that these gorgeous creatures allow us to fumble up on their backs, put up with our shenanigans, and share in their wingless flight.
I don't deserve it, it's not something the horse owes me.
So how can I become frustrated with him for not understanding a language I failed to teach him?
Here's to a lifetime of learning to read and speak that silent language.
And that's why we don't yell at horses.

Winter Camp!

Winter Camp Dates: 12/27, 12/28, 12/30, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4
Come for one day or come for all of them, $50 a day, that's only $10 more than a private 1 hour lesson! We'll have riding lessons, horse science classes, crafts, barn chores and responsibilities and other fun activities! Pack a lunch and come dressed for riding horses. No horse experience necessary, this camp is a great first time exposure to horses and so much to learn for experienced riders! We cap the camper limit at 12 campers so everyone gets plenty of time to ride and plenty of individualized attention. This makes a great gift for Christmas! Give education and experience, not stuff! We'll see you at Zion Ranch Winter Camp!

Winter Camp is just around the corner! Come have fun, meet new friends, ride horses, make some awesome crafts and learn all about horses! It will be a great time! Also, this makes a great Christmas gift for horse crazy kids!
